Styling a coffee table is a great way to add personality and visual interest to your living room. Whether you're styling your property for sale or improving the aesthetic of the space you live in, here are our go to's for creating a beautifully curated coffee table.

1. Start with a base

Choose a tray, a stack of books or decorative box as a base for your decor. This will help to anchor the items you add to your coffee table and create a cohesive look. We usually opt for a beautiful hardcopy book featuring interiors, including a book about your interests is not only a great conversation starter, but also injects your own personality into the room.

2. Add a natural element

Bring some life to your table by adding a plant or flowers. Greenery is one of the simplest ways to add colour and texture, and will also make your space feel more fresh and inviting. Textural foliage is a great way to make a statement and can last much longer than fresh flowers, perfect for property styling, as well as your home.

3. Create height

Vary the height of your decor to create different levels and visual interest. For example, use a taller vase or candle alongside shorter decorative items, such as a bowl or tray, to add dimension.

4. Mix textures

Mixing and matching textures is a key component in styling. Consider what your coffee table is made from and then play with different materials such as timber, glass, metal and fabric to create depth. Our marble toped Oska Coffee Table, is a great canvas for ceramic and glass accessories.

5. Keep it practical

Remember that your coffee table should still be functional, leave some room and avoid cluttering the table with to many decorative items.

Styling to sell

Styling your property to sell is very different to styling somewhere to live. Creating the perception of functionality and comfort comes before practicality. You want to make your home as appealing as possible and small touches such as coffee table styling, or a nicely made bed, go a long way to influencing how a buyer perceives your home and their level of emotional engagement. If you're looking to style your home for sale, we'd love to hear from you at studio@spatialpropertystyling.com.au and for those who just love our style, we now offer a selection of our most loved pieces at Spatial Shop
